Climbing cams pulled over an edge! Break tests in real rock

We pulled a set of TCU Climbing cams out of granite cracks and broke rocks, slings and wires. Samples 931 to 937 on our Slacksnap chart is on our website and these broke between 7kn and 18kn if the cam didn’t come out which is a huge range. The axial would get bent and make the lobes look all messed up! Dynamometer we broke is LineScale2 https://www.linegrip.com/linescale-2/ No affiliate links, no sponsors, just your donations!

Breaking Gear Fear

Edutainment has been a great way to help people understand their gear, and know the true limitations of it.  Watching HOW gear fails is more important than the force itself, as almost all gear is super good enough.  It's more important to share information on how to stay safe than it is to have a paywall.  We hope our stoke is contagious.
