Bolt Buster - Fusion climbing hangers bought on amazon broke below MBS!

Fusion stainless steel climbing hangers bought from https://amzn.to/2JLoBq2 are rated for 30kn and broke at 31.10kn and 29.56kn and 31.22kn. They sell zinc plated bolts - please don’t use those outside! At over $5 a piece they are not really a deal. Tested with a Simpson strong tie TitenHD concrete screw from https://amzn.to/2WCBcBf in a ⅜” hole. Those are amazing bolts, especially if looking for a temporary anchor (assuming you can use power tools legally - not national parks). Please don't bolt if you don't need to and use titanium if near the ocean and never use plated steel bolts outside. With Bobby Hutton

Breaking Gear Fear

Edutainment has been a great way to help people understand their gear, and know the true limitations of it.  Watching HOW gear fails is more important than the force itself, as almost all gear is super good enough.  It's more important to share information on how to stay safe than it is to have a paywall.  We hope our stoke is contagious.
