Bolt Buster - dewalt powerstud stainless wedge bolt - climbing and highline bolt break test

Wow. ½” dewalt power studs proved to be hard to break with our early setup. Tested in shear in concrete, we had the first one break the hanger at 48.88kn and the 2nd one didn’t break at 54.94kn and the last one we finally snapped at 60.92…. WITH A 30KN FIXE HANGER!!! If you're working with solid rock, these were impressive. Please don't bolt if you don't need to and use titanium if near the ocean and never use plated steel bolts outside. With Bobby Hutton

Breaking Gear Fear

Edutainment has been a great way to help people understand their gear, and know the true limitations of it.  Watching HOW gear fails is more important than the force itself, as almost all gear is super good enough.  It's more important to share information on how to stay safe than it is to have a paywall.  We hope our stoke is contagious.
